Advocacy Poster

Conceptualized a visually simple, but poignant poster that focuses on a social issue, in this case global water scarcity. The goal was for the design to work as a "play on words" that would catch prolonged attention, and then to reveal a purpose-driven message beneath the surface.
Going off the sentiment behind "water disputes", the conflict between regions or groups over access to sources of water, I aimed to communicate the concept of "waging war over water". By playing around with the positioning of the elements, I was able to use the letters in the word "water" to spell out "We are at war."
Another concept I pursued was that of "removing color" from the iconic image of a blue-green earth. A more subtle design element was the slight fade, and slight kern of the subtitle type, giving the feeling of depletion.
